26:3
We can do this because the Lord is our security, and He keeps us in perfect peace. It is far better to have a God-based security and peace than a man-based one. The latter will always let us down, the former is truly secure. We need to have minds set on God, trusting in Him alone.
26:4
We all seek and desire peace of mind, a sense of security and we do all sorts of things to try and attain this peace, but there is only one way to have true peace. First, it is the Lord Himself who keeps us in perfect peace (26:3, see also Phil 4:7). So instead of running after various things, we should trust in the Lord. For He is the “rock eternal”. Trusting in the Lord means relying on Him to keep us in perfect peace.
26:5,6
When we are struggling to find peace there is usually some event, or some person or organisation, that seems to be threatening us. They seem powerful, able to do things to us that we cannot control. But God humbles those who dwell on high, He brings down the high and mighty. “He levels it to the ground and casts it down to the dust”, there are no half measures in this. Moreover, the oppressed and the poor will trample down the oppressors!
