Mark 9:24-27 - Help my unbelief

9:24

The man responds with the words “I do believe, help my unbelief”. This shows us the next step. We can sometimes have the impression, even give the impression, that we should simply believe everything, and all will be fine. But in reality that is often not the way we go. There are times when we find we have great faith in the midst of a situation, but more often we are in a more confused situation. At least that is my experience. We need Jesus to help us overcome our unbelief.

9:25-27

Jesus saw a crowd running towards them, and seemed to want to deal with the matter quickly.  So He rebuked the demon. He called it a “deaf and mute spirit”, indicating part of the effect it had had on the boy. He commands the demon to come out of the boy once and for all, to never return again. The demon shrieked and came out of the boy, it had no choice but to obey the Lord. The demon convulsed the boy, and he seemed to be dead, but Jesus took him by the had and he was fine.
