John 9:8-12 - I am the man

9:8,9

The focus now moves from the healing to the aftermath.  “The neighbours” are amazed. They knew about the man’s history, having been blind all his life. Now he could see. As always, some refused to believe. They argued that the man just looked like the man who was blind. The man himself disabuses them of this notion, declaring that he is indeed the man who blind. People sometimes say they would believe if they saw a miracle. This is usually rubbish. We can always think of some “alternative explanation”, even of the greatest miracle.

9:10-12

So having accepted that his eyes had indeed been opened, they wanted to know how it had happened. The man gives them a simple description of what had happened, saying it was Jesus, and His anointing the man’s eyes with mud. And he mentions the washing in the Pool of Siloam. It seems that Jesus had slipped away while the man was on the way to the Pool, so when he came back Jesus had gone. Therefore he couldn't tell them where Jesus was now.
