13:8

In ancient days, including New Testament times, the testimony of a woman was not considered to be legally significant. This may have been behind Manoah’s prayer to God. Or it could just be a natural desire to have the message confirmed. It could even be that his prayer is fully accepting his wife’s testimony and he realises the import of the message, so wants to make sure that they bring the child up properly. Whatever the case, Manoah prays to God humbly asking Him to send the man of God again to instruct them.

13:9,10

God answered Manoah’s prayer, and the angel appeared to his wife in a field. It is interesting that the angel appears to the wife. This is consistent with various events throughout the Bible, God always has a high view of godly women. As soon as the angel appears, the woman dashes off to call her husband.
