17:24,25
Paul then declares the truth about the one true God. God “does not live in temples made by human hands”. This is self-evidently true if one thinks about it for a little while. If God created everything, which He did, then He does not need a human temple. By nature we make religion man-centred. Again, a little thought shows that it is God who gives life, not us. We need to listen to God, He does not need to learn from us.
17:26-28
God is the creator of all things, and all people. The whole of mankind is dependent upon God for its existence. He created all nations from one man, and He set the times and boundaries. And He did this so that we would seek Him and reach out to Him. “Though He is not far from any one of you”. God is near, Jesus proclaimed that the kingdom of heaven was near (Mk 1:15). The devil tries to male us believe society is so inured against the gospel that it cannot believe. But that is not the word of God. Yes, it takes a work of the Holy Spirit, but the Lord is willing to save, and he said the fields are ripe for harvest. All of us, believer or not, are utterly dependent upon the Lord, whether we admit it or not.
