Acts 16:16-18 - Paul became so annoyed

16:16

We now get a couple of miraculous incidents. First Paul and Silas were “going to the place of prayer”, when they were met by a female slave who had a spirit that enabled her to predict the future. This earned her a lot of money, or, rather, earned a lot of money for her owner by her fortune telling. The owners were her “pimps”.

16:17,18

This woman was following Paul and his co-workers shouting “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved”. Interestingly enough this was actually true. However, it was the manner and spirit (literally) with which she said this that was the problem. This went on for several days, and initially Paul and the others just put up with it. Eventually Paul had had enough and he rebuked the spirit. He commanded it to come out of her in the name of Jesus, and the spirit did leave her.
