14:3
Jesus also tells them that He will come back. There are some who seem to complicate this by saying there are various ways in which Jesus comes to us, e.g. through the Holy Spirit, as well as by the Second Coming. That is true enough, but the context here seems to make it clear that it is His return that is in view. We can easily forget the return of Christ, consciously or subconsciously discounting it. We can be absolutely sure that one day Jesus will return. Jesus will return to take us to Himself.
14:4
“And you know the way to where I am going.” Now this seems a rather strange statement, for up to this point, and up to the resurrection they seemed to have very little idea about where Jesus was going. So what is Jesus saying? They know Jesus, and Jesus is the way. We would all like to know how all sorts of things are going to work out. We want to know the details. The truth is that it is far more important to know Jesus, then we do indeed know the way.
