John 13:21-24 - One of you is going to betray me

13:21

Jesus was deeply troubled in his spirit. The cross was no mere act, it was absolutely real and was completely experienced by Jesus. The being troubled in spirit was primarily a result of knowing what He was about to go through, but the juxtaposition with Judas betraying Him would also imply that this aspect also contributed. Though it may just be that Jesus was just revealing how things were going to work out.

13:22-24

The disciples did not know which one of them was the betrayer, all except one of them that is. We then have the mention of the “disciple whom Jesus loved”. This is usually taken to be John, but we should not take this as John boasting. First, the grounds for Jesus loving us is founded purely within God Himself, not because of any inherent attribute that we might have. Secondly, we should remember that this gospel was probably written quite late on. John was still alive while the others had all died (being martyred in many cases). Anyway, John is not saying “aren’t I great”. At Peter’s instigation John asks Jesus who the betrayer is.
