Exodus 4:27-31 - And the people believed

4:27

God spoke to Aaron and told him to go into the wilderness to meet Moses. In 4:14 God had told Moses that Aaron was on his way to meet him. God knew that Moses would be worried about his speaking ability, or lack thereof. It is amazing that God accommodated Moses’ unbelief. We cannot put God in a box! So Aaron goes to Moses and greets him.

4:28-31

So Moses gave Aaron all the words that God gave him, and told him about all the signs that they would do. They then go to meet the elders of Israel. Aaron spoke the words and it seems that Aaron did the signs as well. The people believed that the Lord had indeed seen their suffering and was now about to do something about it. This is a bit like the belief that we often read about in John’s gospel. Often it was only skin deep, as it was for the Israelites (most of them), for their trek through the wilderness was a trek of unbelief.
