13:31
“Now is the Son of Man glorified God is glorified in Him”. How is the Son of Man glorified? We tend to associate glory with shining lights and splendour, and there is none of that here, unlike in the transfiguration. However, glory also entails the concept of significance, and the events that are now unfolding are the most significant events in the whole of human history. Without the cross the whole of the human race is destined for destruction. With the cross men can be saved. And the reason why this is achieved is because of who Jesus is and what He did. “God is glorified in Him”. The Son was sent by the Father, it is God’s plans that are fulfilled through the cross.
13:32
“God will also glorify Him in Himself and glorify Him at once.” Jesus was raised to the highest place and given all power and authority. The cross was the most significant event in history, and it was all about Jesus. Jesus has been given all power and authority, in heaven and on earth. He will judge all the earth. Jesus is the centre of it all.
