Mark 9:24-27 - I believe, help my unbelief

9:24,25
The man does not get into a silly argument about healing, instead he declares “I believe, help my unbelief!” The man knows that the problem lies with him. He does believe in Jesus and that He can heal, he also knows that this is mixed with unbelief. This is probably a state that we can identify with. We do trust God, yet we know that unbelief lurks in us as well. Jesus saw that a crowd was running towards them. It seems that He wanted to deal with the situation quickly before He was mobbed by the crowds. So Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, commanding it to get out of the boy, never to return.

9:26,27

The demon created a fuss, convulsing the boy. Afterwards it looked as if the boy was dead, and the most of the people around thought that he was indeed dead.  Jesus, of course, knew different, took the boy by the hand and lifted him up. There can be times in our lives when the enemy seems to have a strong hold on us, or in some part of our lives. God then intervenes to set us free, but the initial impression can be that things seem worse, even dead. However, we should trust Jesus that He will take us by the hand and lift us up. God’s plans for us are totally good.
