33:1,2
Jeremiah was under confinement in the courtyard when the word of the Lord came to Him again.Even when we are “trapped” in some sense, the word of the Lord may come to us. Indeed, one might say that most revelation comes to us in the midst of difficult situations. Why is this? Part of the reason is because in these circumstances it shows that we truly do not “live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
As He has done many times before, God reminds Jeremiah that He is the One who made, formed and established the earth. God is the creator.
33:3
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” God want us to call upon Him, and He wants to extend and deepen our understanding. This is not mere “head knowledge” (I don’t like that phrase, anyway), but life knowledge. Moreover we need our understanding deepened. As Paul says in Rom 12:2, we need to be transformed by the renewal of our minds.
