Jeremiah 32:40-44 - I will make an everlasting covenant

32:40,41

This is no quick fix, but an everlasting covenant. And God will inspire us to to fear Him. God works in our lives to cause us to do His will, to become more and more like Christ. This does not make us automatons, it is not any kind of mind control. It is far greater than that. And God will never stop doing good to us. This is our inheritance in Christ, and we need to rejoice in it.

And God will rejoice in doing good to us! This is no reluctant God being persuaded not to send us to hell. Rather God delights in doing good to His people.

32:42

The calamity was real, and the people well knew that. And it was God who had brought the calamity upon them. It was not something that had just happened, but something that God had ordained. They knew that all this was real. In the same way the salvation would be just as real, and it is God who would bring about the salvation. The prosperity would be real.

32:43,44

Normal trade will carry on, this is another symbol of prosperity being restored. In these covid days we understand all too well that when massive disruption to a society comes all is not well. Prosperity is part of God’s plan, though not in the way that the so-called prosperity gospel portrays it.
