Jeremiah 32:24-27 - I am the Lord

32:24,25

Jeremiah then recounts what is happening to the city, with the siege ramps of the Babylonians being built up. All the things that the Lord said would happen were happening before his very eyes. In the light of all this Jeremiah thinks that buying a field is utter madness, certainly bad financial advice! Often it is the practical things that bring home to us the reality of what God says. The practical things can show up our lack of faith or understanding. Conversely, they can demonstrate the reality of God’s promises. That is why we find Jesus doing practical miracles for people, and why God makes practical interventions in our lives.

32:26,27

God responds to Jeremiah’s doubts, his unbelief. We should note that many of the heroes of the Bible found it hard to understand what God was doing, or to believe His word. Abraham Job and Jeremiah are prime examples. God begins His response by reminding Jeremiah that He is the God of all mankind. He has power over all. And nothing is too hard for God. We should note that the promises come from God. When God says He will do something, He will do it.
