Jeremiah 4:15-21 - Your own conduct has brought this upon you

4:15-18
The coming of an invading army is announced, it will wage war against all the cities of Judah, and would completely surround her. So this is what is going to happen, but why is it going to happen? It is because Judah has rebelled against the Lord. Her own conduct and actions brought this upon her.  The invasion would be the righteous punishment upon the nation. People are quick to blame God, to ask why He allows certain things to happen. Instead of looking to blame God, we should look to ourselves.

4:19-21

These words are the words of Jeremiah. Like other prophets in the Bible, he is no mere herald of judgement, he is more than a messenger. Jeremiah is totally involved in the situation. He is aware of the nation's sin, but also of the disaster that is going to come upon them. Jeremiah knows what is going to happen, and also why it is going to happen, but he does not want it to go on any longer than necessary.
