Isaiah 57:4-7 - Whom are you mocking?

57:4,5
The unbelievers mock those who trust in God. They sneer and insult. We see this in our day, and it is perfectly normal. They think it shows how clever they are, but in reality it merely shows that they are rebels and liars. Their lives are characterised by sin. Child sacrifice was a part of that, recently I saw an article about evidence of child sacrifice from 550 years ago discovered in Peru. These things happened. Indeed they still happen, with the ending of life in the womb that happens throughout the world in abortions. Rebellion against God never comes alone.

57:6,7

“The idols are your portion”. The Lord is meant to be “our lot”, “our portion”. Living in the love of God, the care of God. Inspired by Him to do great things. That is what we were created for. But when we rebel and bow down to idols it is demons who become our lot. Then we receive the lies, the violence and the torment that goes with it. “You have made your bed ...” We are always blaming God for things, but it is we who have chosen to live outside of His care, and so take the consequences.
