Isaiah 8:20-22 - They will be thrust into utter darkness

8:20
Instead they should consult God’s instruction, “and the testimony of warning”. What Judah needed to do was to listen to what the Law said, and to what prophets like Isaiah were saying. Anyone who spoke contrary to these did not have any “light of dawn”. Today there are many in the church who claim to speak God’s way, but what they say is not in line with God’s word, and so we can be absolutely certain that what they say is nonsense, and often dangerous nonsense.

8:21,22

Those who followed the false teachers, along with the false teachers themselves, would wander around distressed and hungry. Instead of realising the error of their ways and turning to God, they would curse the Lord. Rebellious man is not given to repentance, repentance is not a natural act, but one that requires the intervention of the Holy Spirit. The rebels would see only darkness and fearful gloom, and they would be thrust into utter darkness. Such is the destiny of those who rebel against God.
