“Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”. If selfish and ruthless ambition are characterising the way we live then we will definitely not maintain any bond of peace! We see how this works out in political parties, and other areas of secular life. And selfish ambition actually works against achieving the goal. Paul has also been speaking at length on how through the cross we are all one, especially Jews and Gentiles. The cross brings peace for we are all sinners in need of grace and forgiveness. In modern terms some of the BLM stuff goes directly against this, seeking to view whites as the guilty ones and blacks as superior. We are all equal.

“There is one body and one Spirit”. Through the Spirit we are being built into the body of Christ. Any teaching that mitigates against this is a false teaching. We have been called to one hope, and, again to put it in modern terms, race or colour have nothing to do with that hope. We were all created in the image of God, and are all saved by the same blood with the same purpose. There is neither black nor white in Christ.
