18:11-15
It is now emphasised that Abraham and Sarah were very old, and past the age of child bearing. So Sarah laughed, considering that there was no possibility of her vaping a child. The Lord heard this and questioned Abraham about it. God reminded Abraham that nothing is too hard for the Lord, and what He said would indeed happen. Sarah seems to have realised that it was God speaking, and so she denied having laughed. However, the Lord was not to be fooled.
18:16,17
In Is 41:8 God refers to Abraham as His friend. We must beware of thinking Jesus or God is our “buddy”, it is a very different relationship, but there is a closeness and deepness to the relationship we are meant to have with God. So here God declares that He will tell Abraham what He is about to do. Amos 3:7 says that God does nothing without disclosing it to the prophets. God reveals things to men and women, to His servants. In John 15:15 Jesus tells His disciples that He no longer calls them servants but friends, because He had made known to them everything He had learnt from the Father.
