6:51,52
Jesus then climbed into the boat. Unlike Matthew's account (Matt 14:28), there is no mention of Peter joining Jesus on the water. This is taken as evidence that Mark's gospel is based on Peter’s recollections, and Peter did not want to draw attention to himself. “They were completely amazed, for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened”. The loaves had demonstrated the power and divinity of Jesus. The implication of this is that the proper state of a man or woman is to fully appreciate the power and greatness of God. All of us have much progress to make in this area.
6:53-56
Having all got to the other side they were immediately recognised and throughout the region people came to them with those who were ill. “Wherever He went ... they placed those who were ill in the market places”. “They begged Him to let them touch even the edge of His cloak, and all who touched it were healed”. This is reminiscent of things that happened in Acts (Acts 5:15).
