2 Samuel 20:11-13 - Whoever is for David

20:11

One of Joab’s men stood beside the body of Amasa and called on people to follow Job, and he did this on the grounds that following Job and following David amounted to the same thing. The people may have worried that Amasa was David’ choice as commander of the army, so following Joab would be being disloyal to David.

20:12,13

Meanwhile Amasa lay wallowing in his blood and guts. Not surprisingly this was something of a distraction to people, and all the troops came to a halt as they passed there. So the body of Amasa was dragged into a field and covered with a garment. His body was dealt with rather unceremoniously. After the deed was done, the army continued to march on in pursuit of Sheba.
