Deuteronomy 10:4-9 - And He wrote on the tablets

So the Lord wrote the same words upon the tablets. The people are reminded that they are still under the same commandments. Otherwise they might have thought "times have changed". Many church leaders today would do well to learn the same lesson. The word of the Lord has not changed, even if society has. Moses went back down the mountain with the new tablets, and these were placed in the ark. Israel existed under the Ten Commandments.

10:6-9

Aaron had gone along with the golden calf fiasco. Later he died, but the priesthood continued. For his son Eleazer became the priest in his place. We also get a brief summary of the route that they travelled. The Levitical priesthood was established. They were there to serve the Lord, and to pronounce blessings in the name of the Lord. We are reminded again that the priests did not receive an allocation of land like the other tribes. This was because the Lord was their inheritance.
