There are many false prophets and diviners. Certainly many who think they are wise. We might think that we don’t have many prophets these days, but think of all the environmentalists who make predictions, think of Greta Thornburg. These people claim to know the future, but God will make fools of them and foil them. They will come face to face with reality. (This is not to say that we should not seek to look after the environment, we should, but the attitude of some environmentalists is far from justified). The proponents of a godless society will be shown up for the fools that they are. We should note that God takes an active part in events.
44:26
God is also active in carrying out the words of His servants. This does not mean He will do whatever we say, but when He gives us a task or a message and we deliver that message God will act to fulfil those words. And so He says that Jerusalem will be inhabited, and her ruins restored.
