Isaiah 44:23,24 - I am the Lord, who made all things

44:23
“Sing for joy ..” This is addressed not to Israel, but to the heavens, and then to the mountains and trees. The heavens here is referring to the cosmos, and we see in this verse all of creation rejoicing at the redemptive act of the Lord. In Rom 8:19 we read of all creation waiting for the children of God to be revealed. And here the reason that creation is told to rejoice is that God has redeemed Jacob, and His glory is displayed in Israel. We need to understand that everything happens for the glory of God, but also that the glory of God is revealed most clearly in His redemption of His people.

44:24

God then reminds Israel again who He is. He is their redeemer, and He is the one who formed them in the womb, and the same applies to us. We need to view ourselves as people who were formed by God right from the word go, and people who He has redeemed. And this One who is our maker and our redeemer is the One who created all things, and who sustains all things. We have a powerful redeemer!
