Isaiah 29:17-21 - Once more the humble will rejoice in the Lord

29:17,18
Sinful man turns things upside down, but God will also utterly transform things, and these changes will be lasting and real. The deaf and blind here are those who are spiritually deaf or blind. God will open their ears and their eyes so that they can hear and see. We all get frustrated with people who seem utterly incapable of seeing the truth of God’s word. That happens because they are genuinely incapable of doing so. That is the bad news, the good news is that God can open the eyes of anyone, so we should not give up, and should pray without ceasing.

29:19-21
“Once more the humble will rejoice in the Lord”. When the wicked rule the humble suffer the most, but when God’s kingdom comes the humble will rejoice and the needy will be satisfied. Conversely the ruthless will vanish and mockers will disappear. Those with an “eye for evil” will be cut down. Opposition to God occurs in various forms, from the outright violent, to the mockers, to those who look for a chance to do evil. And when they pursue these evil goals they will often use the courts, they will corrupt the court system. The Nazis and communists did this, but we also see it today in Western democracies.
