29:15
Sin blinds us and also makes us stupid. If we are honest, we probably all know this from personal experience. We do something wrong, and then think ”why on earth did I want to do that?”. So here Isaiah talks about those who go to great lengths to hide their evil deeds”. But God is God, He knows all things and sees all things, nothing can be hidden from Him. We may fool men, at least for a time, but we can never fool God.
29:16
“You turn things upside down as if the potter were like the clay”. If we observe the plans of men, especially when they are arguing against God, or arguing for ways of going against God’s commands, men assume that God is just like us. He is not, that is the whole point, He is God, and we are creatures. And we know that the dominant worldview in the West is that we were not created, but just came about by chance, with no rhyme nor reason. And this is part of the reason why Western society is so keen on killing babies in the womb, and people when they get old. What we believe affects how we live our lives.
