9:11,12
God gave Ananias very direct instructions. He was told which street to go to, in fact Straight Street still exists today. He was to ask for a man called Saul, from Tarsus. God tells Ananias that Saul will have seen a vision of him, and Ananias is to place his hands on Saul in order to restore his sight. There are three great challenges to Ananias here. First is believing that the instructions are from God. The second is that God will work through him to heal Saul’s sight. The third is the greatest, he was going to the house of the man who loved to persecute Christians.
9:13,14
Ananias knew who Saul was, Saul had a well earned reputation. Ananias knew what Saul had done. Saul had caused a lot of trouble to the believers in Jerusalem, and now he was on the way to do the same in Damascus. Now if the message was from God, then God already knew all these things and gave His instructions in full knowledge of what Saul was like. God would not have made a mistake, yet God allows us to question Him.
