Hebrews 11:9,10 - He lived in tents

11:9

Abraham stayed in the land of Canaan, but never had any citizenship rights in the land. The only land he owned was the burial plot he had bought. All the time he was there he lived in tents. On the journey through the wilderness God dwelt amongst His people in a tent (the tabernacle). Isaac and Jacob were heirs of the same promise.

11:10

Abraham was looking forward to a better city, one built by God, and whose foundations are in God. We have a choice, and the Hebrews had a choice. They could seek a city with man-made foundations, or one built upon the rock who is Jesus Christ. We all have the same choice. History and the present clearly show that a city built by man is a very shaky city indeed. If we look at the world today it is so clear that man does not know what he is doing. As our western societies jettison their Christian heritage they become less and less competent.
