Revelation 22:10-13 - I am the Alpha and Omega

22:10,11

John is then told not to seal up the words of the prophecy “because the time is near”. The words of Revelation are not just relevant for the Christians of the first century. They are not just relevant for those who are alive at the very end of time (which may or may not include us). They are relevant for Christians of every generation, especially to those who are experiencing severe persecution. There will be people who do evil, that is just the way it is. But the person who is devoted to Christ should, indeed must, continue to be devoted to Christ.

22:12,13

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me ....” We should remember again that this was given to Christians under persecution. The battle can seem hard and long, and they may have wondered if it was really worth it. The answer of Revelation is a resounding yes. What we do with our lives matters, and those who trust in Christ will be rewarded. Reward is an important concept in the Bible, and Jesus spoke about reward in a number of his parables. Truth is another important reason. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, all other “powers” are pretensions. All of them will ultimately collapse.
