James 5:14,15 - The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well

5:14

What happens if you are ill? You should call the elders to pray over you and to anoint you with oil. Now this does not mean we should not call doctors. “Natural” healing and miraculous healing are not mutually exclusive, and are not opposed to each other. “Natural” remedies (by which I include normal medical interventions) work best when we put our trust in God. And sometimes healings will be purely miraculous.

5:15

“The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well”. When we pray we should not worry about the so-called problem of “unanswered prayer”. We should pray in faith and pray seeking to know the Father better. “”If they have sinned, they will be forgiven”. Does this mean that all sickness is directly related to sin? Absolutely not, and the Bible does not say that it is. However, some sickness is directly related to sin (eg 1 Cor 11:30), and the Bible does say that it is. But notice also that James does not see this as a big problem! If it is related to sin then God will forgive if we come humbly before Him.
