Acts 21:12-16 - Why are you weeping and breaking my heart

21:12-14

Paul may have accepted Agabus’s word with equanimity, but the believers there did not. They pleaded with Paul not to go to Jerusalem. They were afraid of losing Paul. Now Paul was indeed a vital apostle, and they cared for him. However, sometimes God takes away the things that seem so precious and vital to us. Paul assures the disciple that he is ready to suffer to whatever extent the Lord has chosen. The believers accept Paul’s position, after some time. They then give things over to the Lord. There are times in the lives of all of us when we don’t like what is happening, maybe think God has made a big mistake. Sometimes we can work out why things are happening, at others we first of all need to just hand them over to God, hand ourselves over to God.

21:15,16

Paul and his companions then continue on their way to Jerusalem. Before finally reaching Jerusalem, they stay at the house of an early convert from Cyprus, Mnason. All this happened around AD 57.
