Revelation 2:24-26 - I will not impose any other burden on you

The Lord now addresses those who were not following or tolerating Jezebel.  Jezebels, and other false teachers, will often claim to have “deep secrets”. These so-called deep secrets actually come from Satan. Jesus says that He will not impose any further burdens upon them, except that they must continue to hold on to “what you have”, ie the truths and benefits of the gospel.

“To the one who overcomes” is added “and does my will to the end”. We need to persevere. It has been said that while many may start well, far fewer finish well. We need to be consistent in faith, and continue to follow Jesus and seek to live according to His word. There is a twofold motivation for this, one negative, one positive. The negative one is that we must not fall away. The positive one is that there is a great reward for those who persevere. In this case we are told we will be given authority over  the nations.
