Isaiah 60:15-17 - I will make you majestic forever

60:15,16
We get more of the transformation description here. We do well to remind ourselves that our God is a transforming God. God will change Israel’s status as a despised nation to a one that is a source of “joy of all generations”. This promise is still to be realised. So there will be a change in the heart of the nations, and a change in the heart of God’s people. Above all else, His people will know their God. We will know that He is the Lord, our Saviour, our Redeemer, the Mighty One.

60:17

There will be an increase in prosperity, well-being  and peace. Indeed, well-being and peace will rule. One of the biggest problems in the church today is the so-called prosperity gospel. This is deeply unbiblical. However, we also need to be very careful, for prosperity and well being are a fruit of a nation being godly. If a nation adopts ways that are closer to God’s ways, then this will have a real beneficial effect on that nation. Righteousness exalts a nation. What about individuals or churches, especially in persecuted countries? Well we need to take a complete picture of the Bible. Believing in Christ does benefit our lives, but following Christ also involves suffering with Christ. So we need to hold the two in balance.
