Isaiah 48:1-3 - Hear this, O house of Jacob

48:1
Israel would have seen her problem as being the Babylonians, and her captivity in Babylon, much as the Jews of Jesus’ day saw the Roman occupation as their biggest problem. Likewise, we often see various circumstances as our biggest problem. In reality Israel’s biggest problem was her sinfulness, just as it was for the Jews, and just as it is for us. Israel had all the religious trappings, they called on the name of the Lord, had the ancestry, used the name of the Lord, but none of this was done in truth or righteousness. This is a warning to all of us, both in assessing ourselves, and in assessing others. Just because we or they use the right words does not mean we or they are actually right.

48:2,3

They claimed Jerusalem was their true home, just as people today may claim to want the things of God.  We may even claim to be trusting in the Lord, that does not necessarily mean that we are doing so. God, yet again, reminds them that He had foretold what would happen. Notice that at the end it says “then suddenly I acted”. God does not predict the future, He makes the future.
