7:25,26
David now calls in the Lord to “keep for ever the promise”. David does this with regard to himself, and the nation as a whole “so that your Name will be great forever”. “Then people will say ‘The Lord Almighty is God over Israel’”. God has bound His glory up with the nation of Israel. And I believe that Israel is a microcosm of the world as a whole. God has bound His glory up with mankind. And it is only through Jesus Christ that God’s plans can be fulfilled.
7:27-29
“I will build a house for you”. David wanted to build a house for the Lord, but it was the Lord who was going to build a house for David. God’s purposes were the basis for David’s prayers. “Your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you”. When we are aligned with God’s purposes we can be bold in prayer. “Your covenant is trustworthy”. We can depend upon the Lord. David closes by calling upon the Lord to “bless the house of your servant”.
