Romans 9:23,24 - Not from the Jews only

9:23

“In order to make known the riches of His glory for vessels of mercy”. We are the vessels of mercy. Those who are saved are saved purely because of the mercy of God. And God chose to do this to demonstrate His glory. Maybe now is a good time to remind us of my “definition” (I am fully aware it is woefully incomplete, but I think it is still useful) of glory as having two key aspects. One is the splendour of God, and the other is the significance of God. The gospel demonstrates both of these. Our salvation is completely dependent upon God, and it is absolutely glorious.

9:24

And God chose both Jews and Gentiles for salvation. If salvation is up to us, then we exclude certain people groups. Look at Black Lives Matter (BLM) and critical race theory. How do they “address” the problem of racism? They demonise or exclude white people. Jews excluded Gentiles, and Gentiles have done horrendous things to Jews. God’s salvation is all encompassing, in the context of Paul’s time, it included both Jews and Gentiles.
