28:21,22
The Jews in Jerusalem had not contacted the Rome Jews about the matter. Maybe they feared that they would then learn that the Roman authorities had found nothing wrong with Paul. However, the message of the gospel was spreading, and many were saying things against the Christian “sect”. The Jews in Rome seem to have a reasonable attitude at this point.
28:23
The gospel in general, and Paul in particular, seem to have acquired a degree of notoriety, for an even larger crowd turned up to hear Paul speak about the gospel. Paul did this to some length! Speaking from morning to evening. No fifteen minute sermonette this! He explained about the kingdom of God, ie about the rule of God. The key question is what is God doing, how does He operate things and what does He expect of us. What we think or how we think things should be done, which is what man is usually interested in, is actually of very little consequence. Paul did this using the Law of Moses, the Prophets and he also tried to persuade them about Jesus. There is a continuity between the Law and the Prophets and Jesus and the gospel.
