Revelation 18 - The fall of Babylon

The edifice of worldly power looks strong, but in the end it is destined for destruction, we now see this happen to Babylon.
A great angel came down from heaven, and he had great authority. His glory made the earth bright. The world's power spreads darkness, God's power brings light. Notice that power comes from heaven. The world lives as if this is all there is, that is not true. Our answers comes from heaven.
Babylon is fallen. She had become a home for demons and everything evil. This is the consequence of our rebellion against God. Demonic influence is not just to do with demon possession, but is much more invasive.
The whole power structure of the world, its whole financial system is tied in with Babylon, the world system.
Another angel then tells God's people to get out of Babylon. Prophets in the OT said the same thing with regard to physical Babylon. We must not live in the same way as the world lives. On sexual morality parts of the church have spent decades going along with the world, with Babylon. This is a grievous mistake.
The world is full of pride, thinking she can survive anything. But her destruction will come. Those who made money out of her will look on in horror.
Then she will be thrown into the sea. Happiness will be found in her no more.
