10:7
Pharaoh’s servants are now seriously doubting their leader’s chosen path, imploring him to listen. They see the increasing destruction that is on the land, and tell Pharaoh to just let the Israelites go. However, most dictators are exceedingly stubborn, bringing increasing destruction upon their people.Listening to reason is not something that they are good at.
10:8-11
However, even Pharaoh seems to be realising that the game is up, or at least not going his way! But he is not prepared to simply grant Moses his request. Instead he argues, wanting to just let the men go. Pharaoh is still wanting to hold on to the Israelites as slaves. So the women and children would effectively be hostages, guaranteeing the return of the Israelite men. However, Moses is insistent that they must all go, men, women and children, along with their flocks. So Moses and Aaron were driven from Pharaoh’s presence.
