“I saw the beast and the kings of the earth”. There is a close relationship between earthly rulers and the beast. They gathered together with their armies to make war with “Him who was sitting on the horse and against His army”. So they are going to make war on Christ. So we should not be surprised when the world turns on Christ and turns on Christians. Indeed, Christ told us that this would happen.
19:20,21
With the beast and all the rulers of the earth amassing their armies we might be expecting an epic battle. This has got to be a Hollywood movie, even a franchise! But no. Instead it is damp squib! “And the beast was captured”. Along with the false prophet and all who had gone along with the beast, i.e. those who received the mark of the beast and worshipped him. The beast and the false prophet were thrown into the lake of fire, and the rest were slain by the sword that comes from the mouth of Christ. Then the birds gorged on their flesh. The earthly and demonic powers are defeated.
