Inscribed upon His robe and on His thigh was a name, “King of kings and Lord of lords”. There are many individuals, nations and groups who claim to be lord of some domain or other, even the whole world in some cases (that still leaves the whole universe!). The truth is that Christ alone is King of kings and Lord of lords. Any power that opposes is a power that received its power only because God gave it power, and who us under the power of Christ.

There are two great feasts, there is the wedding supper of the Lamb, but there is also the great supper of God. We tend not to talk much about the latter, but we at least need to be aware of its existence! This supper is the defeat and destruction of all the false powers, all the pretensions that set themselves up against the knowledge of God. This “guests” (or the menu?) at this supper includes “kings, captains, mighty men, horses and riders, all men, both free and slave, both great and small”. The wedding of the Lamb is open to all who will repent and believe, great and small. Likewise , the supper of God is the destiny of all who persist in rebellion, great and small. The poor and oppressed are not more righteous than the rich and powerful. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
