19:11
A white horse signifies victory. Earlier in Revelation we had a vision with four horses of various colours, one of which was white. Some equate the horse there (Rev 6:2) with the white horse here, but there is limited grounds for doing this. Christ is the rider on this horse and here He is called “Faithful and True”. This name stands in stark contrast to the whore of Babylon, who could be called “treacherous and false”. “In righteousness He judges and makes war”. Jesus is not just gentle in spirit, but also judges and makes war.
19:12,13
A name that no one knows. To know the name of someone was believed to mean someone had power over that person. So saying that no one knows the name of Jesus means that no one has any hold over Him. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood. This is a reference to Calvary. And He is called the “Word of God”. In his gospel, the fact that Jesus is the Word is a very important concept. The picture here is of a powerful rider who conquers all.
