Jeremiah 17:11-13 - A glorious throne

17:11

The partridge here seems to be used somewhat like a cuckoo is for us. It makes gain from things it did not work for, taking advantage of someone else's hard labour. This might seem to be clever for a time, money for nothing! However, this reckons without God’s judgement, and He reminds Jeremiah that before they have seen half their life judgement will come, and then the unrighteous who seemed so clever will be shown up for the fools that they really are. The same applies today. The so-called elite and those “on the right side of history” will look fools when it becomes apparent that they are “on the wrong side of God”.

17:12,13

“A glorious throne, exalted from the beginning is our sanctuary”. Our God is eternal, His kingdom is eternal. We need to realise how great a sanctuary we have and should not fear. Israel is urged to trust in the Lord, her only hope. It is utter foolishness to go anywhere else. He is the spring of living water, this applies to no one else.
