Mark 5:6-8 - What have you to do with me, Jesus?

5:6,7
The man ran to Jesus and worshipped Him. Then he implores Jesus not to torment him. Apparently the Greek used here usually means to put under oath and could be part of some “magic” incantation. Ie the demon seeking to use some sort of magic to protect itself. There seems to be some confusion or battle in the whole passage between the man speaking and the demons inside him speaking.

5:8

Normally when Jesus cast demons out it was a rather simple affair with limited drama, sometimes the demon would shriek. Here there seems to be more of a battle. Jesus is commanding the demon to come out of the man. In v 7 the demon used Jesus’ title (Son of the Most High God). Having the name of someone generally gave that person some power or authority over the other person, but it failed to give the demon any power over Jesus.
