In Luke 24:47 Jesus tells His disciples that "repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in His Name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem". All too often in the church today the message is forgiveness, but with little or no mention of repentance. If we want the power of God in our preaching and our evangelism and our ministry then preaching "repentance for the forgiveness of sins" needs to be central, for Jesus Himself has said that it will be central. This is why Jesus died for us, this is why He was raised from the dead, this is why the Holy Spirit was sent to us.
