Daniel 2:46-49 - Your God is the God of gods

2:46,47

The king fell prostrate before Daniel. He paid him great honour and even ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him. The king may have been mightily relieved that his kingdom was not going to fall imminently. He also declares that Daniel’s God is the true God. In Ezekiel (and other prophets) an oft repeated phrase is that the Lord will make his Name known. We have an example of that occurring here.

2:48,49

Daniel was then placed in a high position, just as Joseph was placed in a high position in Egypt. So Daniel was ruler over all of Babylon and was also in charge of all the wise men. So he was sort of prime minister and head of the civil service. Daniel’s friends were also given positions of honour within the kingdom. As events will transpire this would not mean a trouble free life for Daniel and his friends.
