2 Chronicles 11 - Rehoboam

11:1-4

Having lost the kingdom, Rehoboam tried to get it back and had the support of a hundred and eighty thousand young men from Judah and Benjamin. However, the Lord sent a prophet(seer) to warn him against doing this. He told him that this was God’s doing. Rehoboam saw sense and so turned back.

11:5-17

However, Rehoboam in some ways acted as though he was king, strengthening various towns in. Judah and Benjamin were his. His action seems to have impressed the people and the priests and Levites sided with him, their action was also motivated by the fact that Jeroboam had rejected them. Jeroboam was as big an idiot as Rehoboam, for he had made goat and calf idols. The men of Israel who wanted to follow the Lord, went with the priests and Levites.

11:18-23

Rehoboam followed in the ways of his father, having eighteen wives and sixty concubines. However in other ways he acted wisely.
