Genesis 49:27-33 - Benjamin is a ravenous wolf

49:27

Benjamin is another one verser. Jacob refers to the warrior aspect of Benjamin, and this did indeed carry forward to his descendants (1 Chron 8:40, 12:2).

49:28-33

49:28 does refer to Jacob’s words as blessings. The “blessing” each received was appropriate to that brother/tribe. Jacob knew that he was soon to die, and he also knew that Israel’s future lay in Canaan, not Egypt. Hence his instructions regarding his burial. The place of his burial was the place purchased by Abraham. So Jacob died, and was “gathered to his people”. This phrase “gathered to his people”, which occurs several times, indicates that they at least had a hint that death was not the end.
