Ezekiel 3:22,23 - The hand of the Lord was on me

3:22,23

The Lord told Ezekiel to go to the plain, and there he saw a vision of the glory of God, like the one he had seen earlier by the River Kebar. One of the early lessons that we see in Ezekiel is that we really need to be aware of the glory of the Lord. Ezekiel was in very difficult circumstances, and was being given a very difficult task. He needed to be supernaturally equipped in order to do this, and an essential part of that equipping was an awareness of the glory of the Lord. We should also note that this glory was given in a somewhat unusual way with the strange vision. Charismatics are sometimes rightly criticised for the nonsense that sometimes happens under the Charismatic banner. There are some real fruitcakes among us! However, Charismatics are right in stressing the importance of an almost tangible awareness of the presence of God. We certainly do need a sense of God based on sound doctrine and a proper understanding of the Word, but this should go together with an almost tangible awareness of God.
