Matthew 25:31-33 - Separating the sheep from the goats

25:31

We now come to the last of the end-time parables and it is another well known one: the parable of the sheep and the goats. To look at Jesus as just a teacher, or just a good man is hopelessly inadequate. Here Jesus speaks about Himself as coming in His glory and sitting on His glorious throne. We have a habit of just focusing on certain aspects of who Jesus is. Whichever aspect it is we will have a distorted, wrong and misleading view of who Jesus is. We will not know Him! We need to take in every aspect of who He is. So if we just focus on His being a servant but neglect His Lordship and Kingship then we are heretics. If we focus just on His Kingship but ignore His humanity, humility and servanthood then we are heretics. We need the whole Christ!

25:32,33

There will be a day of judgement, and all the nations will be before Him. There is no one who will escape the judgement. We are answerable to Christ. And there will be a separation, we will be split into sheep and goats as a shepherd would separate out a flock. Sheep were considered to be more valuable than goats.
